The Jeechem® NDA series exhibits great versatility, vastly simplifying the incorporation of challenging ingredients such as UV filters, high purity actives, silicones, and silicone derivatives into formulations.
The soft and velvety sensorial benefits of the Jeechem NDA range mask their powerful performance as formulation solutions in personal care applications. Their functional properties are limited only by the formulation need and/or the creativity of the formulator using them. Jeechem® NDA-LC, Jeechem® NDA-CC, Jeechem® NDA-5, Jeechem® NDA-HC can be used as individual ingredients or in combination with each other.
Application profile
The ingredients in the Jeechem® NDA range are versatile and suitable for a variety of applications, from skincare, body and sun care to hair care, hair styling and colour cosmetics. The series also works well as solvents, setting modifiers, carriers, emollients, solubilisers, dispersants and to reduce tackiness in a formulation.
In colour cosmetics, they offer a smooth application that glides on easily. The Jeechem® NDA range leaves a soft, powdery/velvety feel, impacts the feel/texture and playtime of a finished product. The lighter options in the NDA range impact initial feel and texture while the heavier NDAs offer comfort and glide. They can also be used as a quick drying/setting agent for foundations.
In hair care applications, the silicone alternatives contribute to emollience, add shine, and offer transient conditioning in conditioners and rinses. They also serve as an ideal vehicle to replace more volatile hydrocarbons in styling gels and heat-activated products, or act as a co-dispersant and solvent in hair colorants, masks and styling products. The Jeechem® NDA range helps prevent split-ends and fly-aways.
In sun care applications, they mitigate the greasy feel associated with sunscreens without compromising SPF levels. They also add a velvety, emollient feel to finished SPF formulations and impart a soft cushiony feel with adequate playtime. The high purity alkanes function as superb dispersants for minerals such as Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide and help to minimise the whitening effect and greasiness often experienced with sunscreens.

Performance evaluation
Vantage has put these products through their paces and benchmark tested them against the most common silicones and petrochemical emollients on the market, specifically:
- Cyclopentasiloxane
- 1.5cst Dimethicone
- 2cst Dimethicone
- 5cst Dimethicone
- Isododecane.

Jeechem® NDA-LC and Cyclopentasiloxane (D5) provide similar sensory benefits in a formulation. They provide a quick-break effect upon application and a powdery after-feel.
Formulations developed with Jeechem® NDA-CC and low viscosity dimethicone are characterised by a fast penetration time and gives extreme lightness and softness to skin after penetration.
In a formulation, Jeechem® NDA-5's sensory profile is close to 5cs Dimethicone. It provides excellent glide upon application and leaves a comfortable film on skin, with a velvety after-feel.
The anti-soaping effect of the series can be affected by the length of the carbon chain.
Jeechem® NDA-LC can visibly reduce and eliminate the soaping effect of a finished product during application. When compared to 1% Dimethicone, 3% to 5% Jeechem® NDA-LC can visibly reduce and eliminate whitening or a soaping effect.
