First things first. While we were compiling this issue of Leading Ideas – our fifth, can you believe it!? – we received the news that our third edition was shortlisted in the ‘App/Digital Edition’ category at the Eddie & Ozzie Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious media awards, which recently took place in New York. Although we didn’t win gold, we received an honourable mention for the second year running.
While we’re proud to find ourselves playing in that league, ultimately this publication isn’t about us – it’s about you. A few years ago, we realised that there was an appetite among DIYers, home renovators and improvers for the kind of ideas, information and advice we share with architects. At Leading Architecture + Design, we aim to connect our readers – predominantly architects and others in the design and construction industry – with the news, products and services they need to know about to do their jobs better. It turns out that sometimes this content is helpful outside of the professional field, too. So Leading Ideas was created to do just that: help anyone doing a bit of design and construction at home do it better. As always, this issue brings news, insight and advice from the brands we know and love. From the season’s colour trends for those in need of advice before they add a lick of paint to their living rooms to the kind of insight you need when choosing a braai, a style guide to help you choose tiles or news of the latest aircon solutions, cabinets, solar products, surfaces, windows, floors, bricks and more. It’s all there for you… ideas that are good enough for professionals, and useful to anyone else about to embark on a design, alteration or construction project. Happy renovating!
